About the project

LAP-CB – Literary Agent Platform: Capacity building (Lit-Quest Europe) is a European initiative dedicated to strengthening the role of literary agents and supporting the circulation of literature from smaller language communities. The project addresses one of the key challenges in today’s book market – the lack of knowledge and tools for selling translation and adaptation rights among small and independent publishers.

Through residencies, year-long training programmes for emerging literary agents, and a series of workshops and lectures, Lit Quest builds professional capacity, fosters international networking, and opens new opportunities for authors, translators, and publishers.

A central outcome of the project is the creation of the first online platform dedicated to selling literary rights across Europe, making information about publishers, authors, prizes, and festivals easily accessible. In parallel, Lit Quest is pioneering research into the first European Prize for Literary Agents, highlighting the crucial role agents play in connecting cultures and markets.

Our mission is clear: to promote European cultural and linguistic diversity, empower literary professionals, and ensure that voices from smaller languages reach readers worldwide.
